What does a Catering Cook do?
A Catering Cook is required to prepare and serve catering in a pleasant
and efficient manner. Serves safe, appealing, appetizing food of good
nutritional value while practicing high standards of sanitation, safety
and portion control as outlined in the Policy and Procedures manual.
What qualifications and experience does the hospital require?
- High School Graduate preferable.
- Minimum of City and Guilds 706-1 or equivalent.
- Must be able to read and write and to follow oral instructions.
- Minimum one year’s hospitality experience in all areas of
catering essential.
- One year’s experience in all areas of large quantity food
production is preferable but not essential.
- Knowledge of sanitary standards of food service, proper cooking
methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization and yield of
means and other foods in order to retain their nutritional quality,
flavour appearance.
