The Chemotherapy Clinic
We are dedicated to providing you outstanding patient care. We are here to help you and your family through what may be an uncertain and difficult time. Our care team consists of certified oncology nurses who operate the chemotherapy clinic under the supervision of the Medical Oncologist. Our oncology nurses are committed to providing you with individualised, empathetic and compassionate care.
What can I do to make the chemotherapy visit more pleasant?
Bring reading materials, crafts (needlepoint, knitting, drawing materials), CD player, MP3 player, iPod or radio with headphones, and other items that can help pass the time. Some patients get a metal taste in their mouth as a result of the chemotherapy; mints or mint-flavoured gum can help eliminate this taste. You may also want to bring small packets of crackers or cookies, depending on the length of your visit. Family members or a friend are welcome. It is helpful to have a friend or family member drive you to and from treatment in case you are not feeling well. Getting to know the other patients and families who are also going through chemotherapy can be a very positive experience.
Getting ready for chemotherapy can be scary. Patients often experience many different feelings. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your questions, and please access our guide, Introduction to Chemotherapy.
