The Wound Care Clinic
For most people, wound healing is a natural, uneventful process. A minor scratch or cut normally heals within a week, leaving only a faint scar or no trace at all. For some individuals, however, it becomes a complex medical problem requiring specialised treatment and care.
The Wound Care Clinic provides a multidisciplinary programme of treatment and support services for the cost-effective management of acute and chronic problem wounds. The most common conditions evaluated and treated include chronic, non-healing wounds resulting from:
- Arterial ulcers
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Compromised skin grafts and flaps
- Non-healing diabetic wounds
- Pressure ulcers
- Problem surgical wounds
- Burns
- Trauma wounds
The goals of our team of highly trained professionals include, providing continuity of wound care, preventing or controlling infection, optimising drainage and removing necrotic tissue, preventing premature wound closure, educating patients and care givers on treatment and prevention, and decreasing hospitalisations.
